Ron has been a CPA in public accounting for over 40 years. He started his career in 1972 and retired from public accounting at the end of 2015. During that time he served as Managing Partner for his CPA firm for over 15 years. Ron obtained Series 65 securities license in 2001 and now works part-time providing financial consultation, investment advice, and retirement planning.

Ron is a retired Colonel from the U.S. Army with 32 years of service and was awarded the Legion of Merit for his service. Ron also served as an Ambassador for the Army Reserves for 9 years. This is an appointment out of Washington and carries a military protocol equivalent of Major General.

Ron practiced Taekwondo for over 25 years, achieving the rank of 5th degree black belt. Much of this time was spent as an instructor as well as a student.

In addition, Ron has been active in numerous civic and community organizations, becoming President of many of them. He has been named a “Kentucky Colonel” by two different KY Governors; and appointed a Sagamore of the Wabash by the Governor of Indiana. This is to name just two of the many awards received.

Ron is certified as:

      • CPA – Certified Public Accountant
      • PFS – Personal Financial Specialist
      • CGMA – Chartered Global Management Accountant
      • In addition, Ron holds a license to sell Life and Health Insurance and a securities license.
      • Graduate of Indiana University

Ron is married to Pam Barnes and they live in Henryville, IN. Their children are grown and successful in their own careers.
